• Ranger Scout Corp of America RSCA

When I was a child both my parents worked very hard to provide for myself and my brother, sometimes having to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. We didn't have fancy clothes or high end anything, what we did have was food in our bellies, clothes that kept us warm, a roof over our heads and family vacations. Because my parents worked as hard as they did family time was when it could happen and family vacations during the summer became our coming together moment when it was just us. I will always remember these family vacations not just because we were doing it together but because of where we went and this made a huge impact on my life and helped guide me down the path I am now on. You might be wondering where exactly did you go? I can tell you it wasn't Disneyland or Disneyworld as much as we really wanted to go it was too expensive, we did go see some of our nations more beautiful wonders like Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, Petrified Forest, Devil's Tower, Mammoth Hot Springs, The Great Salt Lake, The Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park and my favorite Yellowstone National Park. As you can see there is a connection between all of these places and its the outdoors, these places made my love for the outdoors and exploring come alive. Every free second I had was devoted to exploring and having my own adventures in the wild, I followed the river near my childhood home as far as I could and discovered an island, this island and the surrounding areas became our new home, we learned about tracking, fishing, navigation, plant and animal identification, how to build a raft and sail it, knots and lashes and putting them to good uses, through all of this we called ourselves Adventurers, Explorers and Ranger Scouts. This world I grew up in has gotten smaller and smaller the dangers much different then when I was a boy and so these experiences and skills have become far and few between and that's why we created the RSCA, to allow youth the opportunity to be able to explore their world, to have these adventures and allow them to make simple mistakes along the way under the supervision of experienced adults who will be able to safely guide them and pass along their knowledge. My vision is for youth to have fun, explore and go on adventures of their own, to pass on these experiences to others and call themselves Ranger Scouts
